Potent Plants for Life: Food, Biohacking and Beyond (Adaptogens Series)

Last Wednesday of every month starting in May
Dates: 26th May, 30th June, 28th July

18:00 BST
1.5 hours

A Zoom link will be sent out before the class.

This event will be recorded and every purchase will receive the recording. (You do not need to attend the live event).

Each session will be an in-depth look at using different groups of adaptogens and tonic herbs to achieve a state of mind and body: calm, focus and energy.

During the sessions a panel of experts and brands will discuss how to introduce adaptogens into your rituals and routines. They will be explaining the science behind them, what to look for when researching a brand or product, tips and tricks, and how and when to use them.

The talks will give you the confidence to incorporate adaptogens into your daily life. There will also be an opportunity for you to share your experiences with other Plant Academy alumni.

After each event we will share a mini e-book and exclusive Plant Academy alumni offers.

CALM (26th May)

Our first discussion is focused on CALM with Tom, a co-founder of Wunder Workshop. Tom will be discussing how to use adaptogens to relieve anxiety and soothe nerves. Focusing on: CBD, turmeric and curcumin, saffron, ashwagandha and tulsi.

Tom came across a significant body of research supporting turmeric and curcumin when studying pharmacology. Seeing the role that plants have in the medical world he was keen to learn more. Plus, having worked in the medical world for a number of years, Tom was convinced that there was a better way to approach our wellbeing.

Speaking about the power of plants and the way they interact with our body is Tom's focus. Using the experience gained in the pharmacological world and a deepening understanding of traditional plant-based remedies, he helps to research ingredients that are functional and effective. Tom is also a passionate plant-based cook, sourdough baking enthusiast and cyclist.

We look forward to seeing you for a blissful evening.

ENERGY (30th June)

To aid the cardiovascular system and rejuvenate muscles to put a spring in your step. A discussion with Oh My Shrooms and KÄÄPÄ Health.

Leading the way in making medicinal mushrooms more mainstream Ayelen Martinez is a true example of a passion driven entrepreneur. Whilst studying to become a Health Coach Ayelen started Oh My Shrooms, a health forward and decadently delicious medicinal mushroom snack company. Oh My Shrooms is so much more than a snack brand, founded by Ayelen after experiencing the healing power of medicinal mushrooms for herself, it's the platform Ayelen uses to share and educate about these mushrooms to help more people and make these natural medicines our ancestors used part of our modern lives.

KÄÄPÄ Health (Kääpä=polypore in Finnish) is a transparent and sustainable medicinal mushroom brand from Finland. Making potent and safe mushroom extracts from mushrooms which are grown in Southern Finland.

KÄÄPÄ has quickly grown to be the largest medicinal mushroom farm outside of Asia and is uniquely growing and producing their functional tinctures themselves, ‘from spore to shipment’.

The company is a big believer in supply chain transparency and can pinpoint exactly where your mushrooms come from, which is unique in the supplement industry. KÄÄPÄ makes tinctures using only mushroom fruiting bodies with the latest technology of ultrasonic assisted extraction. An industry-leading method that ensures premium quality and the highest potency mushroom extracts.

Mervi is the ‘fungi whisperer’ at KÄÄPÄ Health. She is behind content creation for the website, social media and newsletters. As well as an educator for KÄÄPÄ Health’s mushroom ambassadors. Mervi will be talking about KÄÄPÄ Health's story and practices and introduce KÄÄPÄ's adaptogenic functional mushrooms. KÄÄPÄ Health’s mushroom tincture selection includes extracts from chaga, lion’s mane, reishi, maitake and shiitake.

FOCUS (28th July)

To balance hormones and bring clarity to your mind, improving your cognitive function. An informative evening with Fungtn Brewing and Jardin Collective.

Fungtn is the first adaptogenic, alcohol free craft beer range brewed with functional mushrooms. A unique product that brings together the growth markets of no and low alcohol, craft beer and functional drinks. We wanted to create more mindful options for conscious consumers looking to reduce their alcohol consumption and help empower their health. We have proven that a traditional craft beer can be made without alcohol or animal derivatives and align with those making more mindful choices.

Zoey founded the Fungtional Brew Company with a desire to bring more functional herbs and fungi into our diets. Creating more mindful options for conscious consumers. Zoey has been in the Hospitality industry for over 15 years, across bars, restaurants, events and as a venue and business owner. Her past role as a mindful drinking consultant opened up the world of no and low and this is where she saw the functional gap in the category. An entrepreneur with a passion for health and wellness, her brand Fungtn aims to bring functional and a deeper awareness of adaptogens and fungi to the mainstream!

Jardin Collective is a medicinal mushroom company that offers products designed to provide balance and support through all of life's peaks and troughs. We are passionate about creating nutritious, delicious and invigorating products which boost cognitive function and enhance overall wellbeing. We believe that mushrooms are magic, and we strive to help educate others on the wonderful world of fungi through functional foods and self-care rituals.
